  • Multiply coefficients by 100 for readability

    Hi all,

In my analysis the dependent variable is quite small - hundredths of a percentage point. Hence, when I run the regressions the coefficients often have too many decimal points. This makes them quite difficult to read. I need an advice on multiplying the regression coefficients by 100. Do I multiply the dependent variable by 100 and would this change the significance of my coefficients? I guess not, but I am not sure.

    Thanks

You can multiply the dependent variable by any convenient factor. Your P-values won't be affected. They are dimensionless and free of units (and would be utterly useless and without interest if they were affected by a change of measurement units).

It's a little shocking that you didn't just try this for yourself. That's one of the many ways we can use our software to test our ideas and understanding (and (me too) I sometimes have an idea, try it out and then understand on second thoughts that it was very silly).
