  • xtreg not working in STATA 15, r(3499);

    In STATA 14 I could run my multi-level regression model without any problems, but in STATA 15 it does not work. Here is what I write and then you can see the reply from STATA:

    xtreg suffer edlevel gender relattend age EastGer postcompl socdem liberal
    <istmt>: 3499 _coef_table() not found
    r(3499);

    I would be grateful for tips as to how to make it work in STATA 15. Just to be sure, I retried it in STATA 14 and once again it worked without any problems.

    There is nothing wrong with your command. It is likely that there is a problem with your Stata 15 installation. First step is to make sure that your Stata 15 is fully up-to-date. Run -update _all, force-. Then try again.

      Thank you. It is strange because when I opened STATA 15 I immediately clicked on "update" and it was supposed to update everyting, but after I asked it once more now to update everything suddenly the xtreg command worked. Thanks again for your help!

        You can check your installation with this:

        It may be simpler just to do what Clyde says though.
