  • All my gph files no longer output properly in StataSE-15

    Hello,

I have recently switched/upgraded to Stata/SE 15. While many of the new features are great, I have since faced a critical problem.

In short, none of the graphs I plotted work now. I have even tried some of my old do files that have the standard graph twoway commands that will work just fine with my old Stata/SE 11 before the upgrade, and all of them are giving me this problem where every graphs produced are just a plain gray screen (see snapshot). Even merely opening some of my existing gph files only give me a blank screen.

Can anyone please help giving me advice on how to overcome this problem? Thank you.

    Regards,
    King

What OS are you running under? Let's see if others who use Stata SE 15 on the same operating system are having similar problems.

BTW, I think it is the graphic editor problem. When I save the blank file in alternative formats, such as emf, or print the graphs using PDF, they do output properly. It is only blank when I try to open and edit gph files using graphic editor, then I will only see a blank screen. As such, it is frustrating as I simply cannot modify the graphs using graph editor

Is your Stata completely up to date? If so, you should contact Stata technical support directly to troubleshoot your problem.

          Hi Chinh,

Yes It is completely up to date, and I have tried the usual troubleshooting stuff such as reboot and reinstalling the programme.

Have sent an email to technical support. Thanks.

            Hi Chinh,

BTW, it is definitely more than a mere data format or compatibility issue. In my opinion, it is more of a faulty visual interface issue with the graphic editor when reading gph file.

It is easy to know why. I type in data randomly in the data editor, hence generating var1 and var2. Then, I simply write a graph twoway scatter var1 var2 command. Still, nothing but the blank screen comes out. Basically, every gph file I tried to open (be it from plots with newly generated data with Stata-15) cannot be seen in the graph editor. Thank you.
