  • How can I create a variable that encompasses aspects of other variables?

    Hello.

How can I create a variable that encompasses aspects of other variables?

In my case I have a number of variables that give an indication of how good a university is e.g minimum grade acceptance, % of individuals who have a certain grade, whether it is in the top 25 ranking, ratio of applications compared to spaces and so on. I want to make a single variable that encompasses these variables - quality of university.

I have heard I can use a command -pca- . But I am a bit lost, any tips of advice?

    Thanks!

-pca- might be useful in that respect.
I would point you out to the related entry in Stata .pdf manual.
    Kind regards,
