  • Post SEM output path diagram?

    Hello,

I'm curious to know if there is a user-written package that allows for a path diagram to be constructed after an SEM syntax has been used (from the code)?

In short, I'm wondering if there is anything in Stata that is similar to this feature of Mplus?

    Thank you,
    Thomas Snyder

A long desired one...but no luck yet as far as I know of Stata version 14.2

Writing a program to draw path diagrams given a set of equations is really a nasty problem. For comparatively simple problems Mplus gets it right most of the time and gives you tools to modify the diagram if you don't like the way it looks. But my experience is that as soon as you get past a few equations and/or variables, the path diagram becomes unwieldy. Although it is usually true that a picture is worth a thousand words, for complex models a set of clearly specified written equations may be worth a thousand pictures.

        Thanks for the replies,

I like what you said, Dick, and most definitely agree. I suppose that I am just a bit jealous of my colleagues using Mplus.
