  • Scatter plot with a large set of observation

    Hello

I am working with a large data set to create a scatter plot of the two variables (seRate and percapita)

    Graph.gph

As you can see the problem is that due to the large number of data set, it is difficult to read when i replace dots with the labels.

I tried adding jitters to the graph and using the sunflower command. But both of them are not so satisfying.

I appreciate any help or advice.

Does this help? It's using marker with 20% color opacity in Stata 15.

In addition to Hua Peng's advice, have you tried something as simple as reducing the marker size to tiny. When I did this, it worked for my eyes at least.

Given the number of points, I am afraid labels will not be very readable regardless what you do.
