  • Stata 15: Is the Small Stata flavor forthcoming?

I see that Small Stata is no longer listed on the Student Pricing page. Has it been done away with in v15, or will we see it there eventually? I know that some students appreciate having that less expensive option when Stata is required for a one-semester course.

    Cheers,
    Bruce

    I got this email:

Because you teach with Stata, I want to personally let you know that we are lowering the student price for Stata/IC. A six-month Stata/IC license may now be purchased for $45 (a 40% decrease in price from Stata 14). Annual and perpetual licenses are also available. In addition to this price drop, we are no longer offering Small Stata.

With Stata/IC now the default option, students and instructors no longer need to work around the strict limitations of Small Stata. This change enables students to purchase a version of Stata that allows for larger datasets with more variables and observations at a fraction of the previous price. The greater flexibility of Stata/IC makes it an ideal choice for both an introductory statistics course as well as a more advanced course.
Sounds like a good change to me.

Thanks Richard. I did not receive that e-mail. I guess I haven't been teaching with Stata long enough to be on their radar. ;-)
