Stata introduction to an amateur

Brand new to stata without an idea of how to get started on these questions. Every command I have typed came out red with an error tagged on it. No clue what I am doing wrong or direction in this. Any one in the forum with some guidance, please?

I would take the time to read the Getting Started Manual. It's not that long!

It sounds weird that the original poster noticed the relevance of getting a bit familiar with Stata only when the deadline is approaching.

I suppose one has to be a certain age (or older) to long for the old days when students acted as if they cared.

I think lots of students care; they show it by not posting in this way.

Conversely when I was a student (no internet in the Mesolithic) there would be clusters of people in the statistics lab asking those who were interested "So, what's the right answer then?" Most did very well in other fields.

What to me is especially dopey is that if you glance at the attachment in #1 it hinges on downloading files from the student's institution's Blackboard, so even in principle it's hard to help.
