  • Average Effect Sizes

    Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can provide or direct me to find more information on the av_effect command other than this page. I have around 6 indices of outcomes such as health, employment, etc. with about 6-10 dependent variables within each index. For my multiple index outcomes, I would like to find the average effect size for treatment versus control- but I am specifically wondering whether the scale of each of the variables within the index must be the same or indicate movements in the same direction?

    Thanks in advance.

You didn't get a quick answer. You'll have a greater chance of a useful answer if you follow the FAQ on asking questions suggests you provide Stata code in code delimiters, Stata output, and sample data using dataex.

First, you have to tell us how you intend to measure effect size. Different areas do measure effect sizes differently. Also, it is not clear what you mean when you want an effect on things within an index. When you create an index as a dv, you're giving up on the potential to really identify the influence of iv's on each item of the index separately. You can run each measure in the index separately - then calculating an effect size might be possible.
