  • transformation of panel data into normal

what could be alternative solution to transform a panel data set into normal when when the wonsorization or log transformation is not working

  • #2
One alternative is to ask yourself why you are trying to transform panel data set into normal.

Depending upon your research question, you could also look into generalized linear mixed models.

Joseph conveney thanks sharing your knowledge but actually i am looking for different techniques than can be use to make the data set normal. apart from all these two that i mentioned above (log transformation and wonsorization) is there any other approach?

Stata's - ladder - as well as - gladder - command may present p-values for the transformations and graphicall display, respectively. Also, the command - boxcox - may be used to apply transformation in regression models.

The information above is on account of that fact that your are "looking at different techniques that can be used to make the data set normal".

That said, I fully agree with Joseph Coveney in #2.
        Best regards,

While Marcos and Joseph were kind enough to try to answer your question, you'll increase your chances of a helpful answer by following the FAQ on asking questions - provide Stata code in code deimiters, Stata output, and sample data using dataex. Also, try to reduce the code you include to what is needed to demonstrate your problem. You should also have searched for the major terms in your question from the command window of Stata (findit majorterm) and in the subject index in the documentation (under index at the bottom of the list of documentation).

By the way, it is not clear whyyou need normal variables - most routines only assume at most normal errors. Also, there is a real likelihood that you are p-hacking -- trying different manipulations until you get the statistically significant parameters you want. This is generally considered inappropriate.
