  • Beginner's tutorial

    Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to come with a general curiosity about learning STATA, but it's hit me a couple of times over the past few weeks that I'd like to start picking up on how to work it. I'm an economics major waiting to take an econometrics class in the Spring and I'd like to find places for tutorials on how to operate STATA and building on from that foundation.

    Any information is greatly appreciated.

I have a short (1-credit) Stata programming course on Youtube. My channel is https://www.youtube.com/user/smilex3md, but you can find the Stata videos directly at https://www.youtube.com/user/smilex3...=dd&shelf_id=9.

    Best,
    Alan

Thank you! I will definitely check it out when I get some time; I have it saved in my browser.

By the way, the GSD icon is rad. I've got two males of my own.

Really! The User's Guide is written by StataCorp and is tweaked every version. Just keep reading the manual!

Naturally, I have no objections to presentations of any kind. I give them myself in teaching introductions to Stata. Perhaps their main value is selling Stata as something that evidently can get you good stuff easily and quickly once you have experience.

          Hello Alex,

Just a small note: please prefer to write "Stata", with just the first letter in upper case, as explained in the FAQ.

With regards to video tutorials, you may also wish to take a look at Chuck Huber's at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVk...BS4tLOyHqustDA.

There is also an introductory book, entitled "A Gentle Introduction to Stata", written by Alan Acock.

That being said, as Nick underlined, the Stata Manual is really a must.

          Best,

          Marcos
          Best regards,
