  • Error when installing a package

    Dear all,

    I am trying to install the package "bpbounds" and whenever I type ssc install bpbounds I get an error

    ssc install: "bpbounds" not found at SSC, type -findit bpbounds-
    (To find all packages at SSC that start with b, type -ssc describe b-)
    r(601);

    then I tried findit bpbounds, and then clicked to install the package, I got this error: cannot write in directory c:\ado\plus\b

    Any ideas on solving this issue?

    Check your admin right for installation. If you are trying to install at your work place, it is most likely the IT man limiting your right of installing anything in the machine. Ask for their help for installation. I have just installed the package and without any problem.

      Thank you Roman. The problem was solved by right clicking on the Stata icon (prior to opening it) and click on "run as an administrator".

        Dear all,

        I had a very similar issue to the one posted by Maya Lani. I'm trying to install the package "pvar", but Stata says:
        "ssc install: "pvar" not found at SSC, type -findit pvar-
        (To find all packages at SSC that start with p, type -ssc describe p-)
        r(601);"

        When I use the findit command, no pvar package is found. Pvar is a command used for vector autoregressive model and it was implemented by Inessa Love (https://sites.google.com/a/hawaii.ed...love/home/pvar for more information). Hence I downloaded the zip file and I put the .ado and .sthlp file in the ado folder as described in the FAQ of that website, but the command does not work.

        Any ideas?

        Thanks in advance
