  • Job posting: intermediate-level Stata and SAS programmer for education research

    We are seeking an intermediate-level Stata and SAS programmer for education research, preferably in Berkeley, CA, US but other locations are possible. We have already started interviews, so please act quickly if you are interested.

    Responsibilities

    The tasks associated with this position may encompass some/many of the following:
    • Learn current systems in place and modify as specified
    • Learn and adhere to programming standards
    • Work with analysts to develop derived variable code from specifications
    • Detect data issues by investigating data patterns
    • Compile and write documentation of program development and subsequent revisions, inserting comments in the coded instructions so others can understand the program
    • Correct errors by making appropriate changes and rechecking the program to ensure that the desired results are produced.
    • Meet deadlines
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in a mathematical, data-oriented or computing specialty.
    • 3 years job experience (3+ years of experience preferred) in SAS programming, and experience in one or more of the following languages/applications/technologies: Stata, Excel, and SQL. (SAS code may be required)
    • Preference will be given to candidates with experience using data from postsecondary surveys such as NPSAS, BPS and B&B.
    • Good oral and written communication skills. (Cover letter to accompany resume)
    • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status
    Desired Skills
    • Experience with both SAS and Stata
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Ability to interact comfortably with technical and non-technical staff
    • Good written and oral English-language skills
    • Ability to document processes, files, etc.
    • Work with technical and non-technical staff.
    • Ability to understand survey questionnaires and apply logic
