  • Tau squared and calculating forest plot diamond from random effect weights

    Hi there,

I'm wondering if Stata has a command to:

    a) Calculate tau squared (an estimate of the between-study variance in a random effects meta-analysis); edit: Actually, just found tau square instructions here - http://www.biostat.jhsph.edu/~fdomin...ta-6cities.pdf -- so only wondering about b

    b) Calculate a forest plot average effect size diamond based on random effect weights instead of fixed effect weights. The default seems to be calculation based off fixed effect weights.

    Thanks for any help

    Hello Jane,

If I understood correctly your query, it concerns user-written programs related to meta-analysis.

To get acquainted with each user-written program, please check the help files, respectively.

For example, for commands with - metan -, as showed under the link provided in #1, you'll need first to install it.

To install - metan - as well as get the help files, you may type on the Stata's command window:

    Code:
    . findit metan
