  • How can I open an old SAS data file (SD2.) in STATA?

    Hi All,

I have recently downloaded a Dominick's Database from Chicago Booth School of Business; however the form of the data file is in (SD2.) which cannot be opened in STATA. What Should I do?

    Thank you fro your time

If you have a colleague who uses SAS, you could ask him/her to open it, save it as a delimited text file or spreadsheet, and then you can import that to Stata.

There is also a user written program (Sergiy Radyakin, I think) -usesas- to read SAS files; you can install it from SSC.

usesas (from UNC) will require you have SAS on your machine. You'll need some bridge. StatTransfer could handle this.
