  • UK Household Panel Survey (UKHLS a.k.a Understanding Society) - Which variables do I use to look at years of employment and years of education?

Hi, I'm using the UKHLS data to analyse the gender wage gap in the UK currently. I'm looking at the data and was wondering how best to extract years of employment experience out of the data? Moreover, I wanted to extract years of education for a person. Which variables would be best to look at for these? Maybe I'm being stupid but I cant see any variable that directly helps me, I'm very new to stata and big datasets such as the UKHLS...

    Thanks!

Have you visited https://www.understandingsociety.ac....-started#part1? And followed links through to the documentation, and also to their regular training courses? I don't think you should expect to be able jump straight into using a large complex longitudinal study like Understanding Society without a substantial investment of your time. (Have you thought about which set of survey weights you will use, just to pick one example issue?)
