Hi,
How to figure out why Stata runs slower on one system (server cluster virtual machine, Scientific Linux 6.1) than on another (my desktop PC, Windows 7).
Is there a way to assess which parameters of the system are slowing down Stata?
In my particular case, on both systems I'm using Stata-MP 13.1 64bit, both systems have 8GB of memory. My local desktop has an Intel Core I5 processor. The virtual machine supposedly has 4-cores.
The computations I run involve big datasets (up to one million observations), and regression involving high numbers of parameters (e.g. reghdfe)
I could ask IT to change parameters of the VM, I just don't know how to figure out which ones
