  • developing a predictive model using Stata

Hello, I am interested in developing a predictive model using logistic regression. Would anyone know of any references that discuss best practices for building the best predictive model & evaluating its predictive power (for example, including recommendations such as you should use backward elimination and examine -2 Log L). Ideally it could include examples of how conduct the analysis using Stata (although I'm not sure if there are any of those).

Thank you in advance for any help!!!
    Best,
    Caroline

Stata has rich documentations, which I personally find extremely helpful. Search 'help logit' within Stata and read the manual.

some good places to start: Harrell, _Regression modeling strategies_,Springer (uses R), Steyerberg (not sure of spelling), _Clinical Prediction Models_, Springer (uses R), Royston and Sauerbrie (spelling?) _Multivariable Model Building_ Wiley (uses Stata)
