  • Epidemiology - Pooling relative risks or hazard ratios for different outcomes from the same trial

I apologise if this has already been asked and answered.

I have one cohort trial with separate multivariate RRs for disease A and disease B. I would like to merge these RRs to get a single RR for diseases A+B combined. How can I do this in Stata? I have the number of cases for both A and B individually and the total number of participants in the trial, but not enough data to calculate a new combined multivariate RR from scratch (i.e. it would not be possible to adjust for all the confounders). Is it allowable to merge the multivariate RRs in a fixed (or random) effects meta-analysis? Would this give an inaccurate RR (and 95% CIs) because the individual RRs were calculated using the same controls? Any help would be appreciated, especially in the form of Stata code!

    Thanks in advance,

    Fred
