  • Line numbers disappear in do-file editor when background color is changed

When I change background color in the do-file editor (under Edit - Preferences - Editor Font), the line numbers disappear. It seems to happen regardless of the chosen color. I find this happening in 13.1/IC under Windows Vista 32-bit, 11.1/IC under Windows Vista 32-bit, but not in 13.1/IC under Debian LXDE Linux. Any suggestions? I can also try it under Windows 7 64-bit if you're interested (but not until next week).

This does not happen in Stata/SE 11.2, Stata/SE 12.1, Stata/SE 13.1 or Stata/SE 14.0 under Windows 7 32-bit. The line numbers don't disappear when the background color is changed.

Try to zoom the text with the mouse wheel. This should redraw the line numbers. There was definitely a bug with older version not fitting the line numbers properly after changing the font size and this helped.
What colors do you change? Which theme is installed? What happens when you change it.

I am surprized there is no screenshot to this trivial interface problem.

I just fixed it. The line numbers are drawn in the "text color", which you might have to change to have a dark background, and if it is set to white, it disappears and zooming doesn't help. I don't think of the line numbers as part of the text, any more than the menus, but there you go.
