Old Stata manuals available online?

As a general questions, are older versions of Stata documentation archived online anywhere? This might be useful in revision or review of do files I've written some time ago.

In particular though, does anyone know when the "equal" option was added to the "cumul" command? The documentation for Stata 13 states: "The equal option was added by Nicholas J. Cox.." was it added when the command was introduced, or at a subsequent date? And if later, when was it added?

Hello Paul,

You can use the help whatsnew command to explore what has been added to Stata across and during releases. In particular, you will find what you need if you type:

help whatsnew8to9

In item .23 it states that:

Existing command cumul has a new option equal to create equal cumulative values for ties. See [R] cumul.

Let me say that I think it would be good to have as many old manuals online as is possible. Big chunks of Stata are, in effect, undocumented. They work under version control but the syntax and documentation for those commands are not available in the current release. I have every version of Stata from 7 on in my computer, partly because I want to make sure that my own programs continue to run under whatever version I said they would run, but also because I want to be able to look at old help files so I know what a command being run under version control is doing.
