  • latent class analysis and latent transition analysis

Can we use Stata to do a latent transition analysis? I can only find a SAS procedure for that, but can't find a Stata plug-in for that. Also, for Stata 13 or 14, should we still use latent class analysis (LCA) plug-in to conduct LCA or there is other solution? Thanks!

Certainly as of version 13, Stata did not support discrete latent variables. I am only just learning my way around the new features of version 14 and haven't gotten to exploring SEM yet, but from reading the whatsnew_13_to_14, it doesn't appear that this functionality has been added. Wish list for Stata 15?

The methodology center at UPenn has an LCA plugin for Stata if you're working on a windows machine. You may also be able to do some LCA/LTA work with gllamm, but it may not execute as quickly as other solutions that are integrated natively with the platform.
