  • how to rescale data based on their cross-sectional average of each year

Hello everyone, I hope you are all in good health
Please bear with me, I am not really familiar with Stata since I have only recently started using it. I am working on panel data that contains data for 51 states, from 1995 to 2011. I would like to plot the dynamics of the cross-sectional units and their respective convergence clubs. To do so, I first need to re-scale data based on their cross-sectional average of each year. I have been searching for a week how to do that re-scaling but I have not been able to find anything up to now and it is delaying my progress. Could you please assist me with any code, or give me any lead on how I can do that? Your help will be highly appreciated.

Welcome to Statalist. Please repost your question in the General Forum as this is for learning how to use the forum software, as indicated on the top of the page. When doing so, also clarify what you mean by

re-scale data based on their cross-sectional average of each year.

Do you simply want to generate means of the variables by year?
