  • How can I that check-time invariant variables are actually time-invariant?

    Dear Statalisters,

I have a panel dataset to be analyzed with xtreg, with option fe.
I want to check that variables that should be time-invariant actually are time-invariant. What should I do?
For example, among others, I am using the covariate "month of birth"; when I use the xtreg I should not get any estimate for this variable (as there is variation across individuals in month of birth, but not along time). How can I check beforehand that actually there is no variation along time?
