    Dear Clyde,

    could you perhaps expand on your idea to use the - cmp - command to address the missings in the polychoric correlation matrix? I calculate them for each variable combination and store the values in a matrix? But then I would still the missing value for those variables where the polychoric correlation is not defined. Do I replace them with 0 or how did you think doing this? Thank you very much!

    Best,
    Felix

      Hi
      I currently use Stata 12 and have a similar problem
      My database has 500 variables and 2612 obs. I have 11 items showing beliefs about different socioeconomic variables. Scores for each item range from 1-7 values. The items are scored in an ordinal Likert scale. I have been working with polychoricpca pack.

      polychoric x* [fw = *], score (*) nscore(2)
      matrix r = r(R)
      factormat r, n(20) factors(2)

      However, when I try to calculate the loadings, I obtain the next message

      matrix r has missing values
      r(504);
      I try to solve that, but because of the type of variables, the only to create my components or factors is using polichoric correlations.
      Thank you for your help,
      Best,
      Pascual
