how determine area of a polygon using shapefiles? for example of a state
Do you have any recommendations for a code that calculates the area of a polygon that reflects the states or municipalities of a country?
I attach a link where you can find the shapefiles to use, being "00ent" for the states and "00mun" for the municipalities. The country to plot is Mexico.
But I am interested in calculating from these files the area per km^2 of the states or municipalities.
I hope you can help me with any suggestions
