Im pretty new to stata and am having to use it for my uni dissertation. Im looking to analyse the effects a lack of civil liberties can have on FDI inflows into Saudi Arabia. I have tried teaching myself as much as I can however I cant seem to get the command right.
FDI is my independent with several other independents including Civil Liberties. The data is time series from 1968 to 2019 with around 450 observations. I have had to use a different number of lags for different variables and have had to take first and or second differences of some, both in order to ensure stationarity.
The command im trying to use is: ardl diff_FDI(3) diff_Civil_Liberties(3) diff_GDP(4) GDP_Growth(2) Exports(8) Trade_Openness_2diff(4) Oil_Price_2diff(3) Political_Stability_2diff(2), lags(1/8) c(5) diff(1/2)
However im not sure if this is right as i keep getting the error message: factor-variable and time-series operators not allowed. I have checked and none of my variables are factor variables so im a bit stumped.
Any advice would be massively appreciated.
