Redefining unit of analysis in a merged dataset

I have household member and household MICS datasets merged. Is it possible I estimate an indicator which has households as its unit of analysis within the same dataset where the default unit of analysis is household members. I want to estimate proportion of poor households that receives social support from MICS.

If you want to use both household member level data and household level data in your analysis, then a hierarchical linear model should be appropriate. On the other hand, if all of your variables are available at the household level, just use the pre-merged household level dataset for your analysis.
