  • Navigating windows when multiple Stata sessions are open

    Hi all

Often I do data work which is easier to do if I have multiple Stata sessions open at a time. In these cases I both have the 1) "main" stata window with the results, 2) the data browser and 3) the do-file editor for each of the Stata sessions I have open. Here it can often be confusing which do-file-editor belongs to which Stata session, e.g. if I execute a line in my do-file, in which main-stata-windows should I look for my results.

I have found that one solution to this problem is changing the color scheme of each of the sessions by edit-->preferences-->general preferences-->overall color scheme. This is slightly tedious and as Stata often has a (too me) hidden but efficient solution, I wanted to hear if any members of this forum has an alternative way to navigate between multiple Stata sessions open at the same time?

That sounds like a really confusing situation to be in. I try to avoid opening multiple sessions of Stata at all cost, that is just a bug waiting to happen. Maybe frames can help you avoid that?
