I have a dataset of offspring with both of their parents, so each offspring has two entries (for the mother and for the father). My data also has sampling weights.
I was trying to predict parental mortality using an offspring trait with mestreg to account for the non-independence of deaths between parents of the same offspring. Is that the right way? I have also tried using xtstreg and got different results, which if I understand correctly doesn't supposed to happen. Can it be because of the sampling weights? other than that the models are the same, with the same sample and the same covariates.
