  • The meaning of the phrase “data transfer procedures”

What is most likely meant by the phrase “data transfer procedures” in a job opening in which the precise position duty language is: "Investigating and understanding data transfer procedures and their applications."

Would it most likely refer to converting data from another program (eg. SPSS) to Stata (as through StatTransfer), or refer to transferring (moving) data from one electronic site (eg a website) to another?

If it refers to the latter, how would one form a plan to be able to know and do that prior to a potential interview?

Without a more complete description of the job to provide context, it is difficult to say.

I will say that "data transfer procedures" between organizations while guaranteeing that privacy agreements and regulations are not compromised is an area of significant concern, more so in regard to implementation of the EU General Data Protection Regulation.

Put another way, depending on the context it may have little to do with the skills involved in statistical analysis and more to do with legal issues.
