How do you define the "best" command?

The best in terms of efficiency. For example, tables with the tabstat command, would be export by a matrix, but the process is totally inefficient.

I'm not sure if I got it right, for you say you want to export tables "in" Stata in the title and "from" Stata in the message. Also, I gather you have no preferences with regards to the extension of the exported file.

Shall .doc files fulfill your demands, you may wish to take a look at the SSC table1_mc. I have used it and it works fine in most situations I need so far. As you may read here, in some situations, I'd like it to be further improved.

I suggest tabout by Ian Watson, available from SSC and also at http://www.ianwatson.com.au/stata.html .
