While I am happy to see that people find xls2dta useful, and I thank you for your supportive feedback, I do not really use the command much myself. This is because I do not usually work with Excel files. It follows that I cannot give any examples from my own experience.
Also, I feel that most of the problems that people report here on Statalist (or privately) mainly concern data manipulations of the converted files. Such manipulations have little to do with xls2dta itself. The latter just makes it simple to apply a given code to a series of files.
Altogether, I believe/hope that xls2dta is fairly easy to use; this is because it does so little on its own. Basically, the command merely replaces a loop over files. While I find this very convenient, I find it hard to come up with examples specific to xls2dta.
