One additional thought. I have kept all the variable names as they were in the original files, except for changing lpermno to permno. But using mofd as a variable name is not a good idea because mofd() is a Stata function. While there is nothing illegal about this, it has the potential to be confusing, especailly since the mofd() function assigns 1 to January 1960, whereas the mofd variable in this data assigns 1 to January 1990. So I recommend, for clarity, that a different name be used for that variable going forward.
