Using -estimates- commands across multiple machines?

Unfortunately, the subject can't be edited, so please forgive the fact that it doesn't fully describe the question.

Are new notes on estimates automatically saved to the .ster file in which the estimates are saved? Or does one need to resave the file in order to resave new notes. For example, consider the following commands:

estimates notes: This is the first note.
estimates save samplefile
estimates notes: This is the second note.

Would the second note be automatically saved to samplefile.ster, or would another command

estimates save samplefile, replace

be required to save the second note to disk? Thank you in advance.
