  • SMCL: stack characters

    I would like to include (in a graph) a character with a tilde over it. In LaTeX I would write,
    $\widetilde{\delta}_{t}$

    So it would look something like,

    Is there a way to do this with SMCL?

    Thanks for any help on this!

    Not a complete answer, but the bottom of -help smcl- suggests that {c A~} and {c O~} would work for letters A and O.

      Thanks Aspen! I had seen that but I really want to put the tilde over a greek letter (\delta in particular).
      This seems to be a one-off special code for Western European characters only:
      I tried various iterations like
      {c {&delta}~}
      without any luck.

      Any other suggestions are welcome

        I fear you will be frustrated. SMCL is really just a way of getting ASCII characters. It's not a way of getting extra characters and in not in that sense parallel to TeX or LaTeX. Extensions to Stata of this kind are often asked for at users' meetings and in this forum.

          Hi Nick:

          Thanks for letting me know. This was kind of my guess but I wanted to check with gurus like you.

          Again thanks for letting me know: no at least I know I have to look for an alternative.
