Creating unbalanced panel dataset with different time periods

Dear all,
I want to create an unbalanced panel dataset with the dependant variable (average years of schooling) spaning the years 2000-2015 and the dependant and control variables spaning the years 1995-2010. All data are with 5 years intervals. Could you please tell me how to do this.

You didn't get a quick answer. You'll increase your chances of a useful reply by following the FAQ on asking questions - provide Stata code in code delimiters, Stata output, and sample data using dataex.

We really don't get enough information to understand your problem. Are you starting with two data sets? If so, how are they structured? Are you planning on merging them? By what variables?

In general, you should set this up as a panel dataset. If you set both panel and time variables, then you can easily use the L. operator to use lagged values of the explanatory variables, e.g., regress y L5.x1
