  • Why dose the ml_mediation command run so slowly?

    Dear all,
    I am running a multilevel mediation model using the command ml_mediation. The running processing keeps on stopping at a certain point and takes hours to move on. For example, at around 850 replications, it stopped there and about 1 hour later, it went on again. The same thing happened several times, some even stopped for two hours. There was no error message. I really don't know how to solve this problem. Does anyone have the experience before?

    Following is my command message :
    ml_mediation, dv(OCD2) iv(PLDXave) mv(CEave) l2id(TeamID)
    return list
    bootstrap indeff=r(ind_eff) direff=r(dir_eff) toteff=r(tot_eff), ///
    reps(1000) cluster(TeamID) idcluster(nTeamID): ///
    ml_mediation, dv(OCD2) iv(PLDXave) mv(CEave) l2id(nTeamID)
    estat boot, percentile bc

    Your help is highly appreciated!
    Best regards

    Dear Ying Chen,

    I indeed experienced this quite often. I don't have an explanation for this either, but I realized that the more you use the computer next to the bootstrapping, the more likely it is that it stops at one moment. I would also run each command separately (first ml_mediation, then bootstrapping, then estat boot).

    Kind regards,
